Migration from Domino.doc – Apollo Vredestein

Apollo Vredestein had developed a document management solution using Lotus Domino.doc (LDDM), piloted it and were ready to go live when IBM announced the discontinuation of the product. This forced the senior leadership of the business into a corner. They couldn’t afford to fund another 12 month search, build and pilot process, so if they were to salvage the project, they had to find a solution that could deliver a migration from the LDDM solution, with appropriate customisation, quickly and cost effectively.

The IT function embarked upon a rapid review of the alternatives in the market being IBM Filenet, IBM Lotus Quickr, Alfresco and Docova. Only Filenet, Alfresco and Docova passed the functionality test. From that point, Docova proved to be the only realistic solution.

  3. Ease of use – The end users loved the solution. Little training was needed enabling the business to get up to full speed quickly and without draining the IT function
  4. Value – 'Docova proved to be a very powerful ECM solution with robust, unique features, at a cost point that the other solutions simply could not equal'
