e-Copy Connector

The current version of Lotus Quickr, 8.1, is seen as the first Web 2.0 based team collaboration and knowledge sharing software. Including content repository, content management, team collaboration functions and connectors allowing you to access Quickr from within other desktop applications such as Lotus Notes, Lotus Sametime, Windows explorer, Lotus Symphony and other Microsoft Office applications.

Creating, using and maintaining Quickr team places is easy for anyone to do. Places can be customised and adapted for your own needs by using elements such as team blogs, wikis, team calendars, discussion forums and other collaboration tools for managing projects.

Lotus Quickr connectors are the integration point for everyday applications, allowing you to access content from wherever you are without having to switch between applications. A classic example of connectors in action would be sharing an email attachment; The message is received and in one click you can save the attachment to a Quickr library and then send a link instead of the attachment itself. The same applies with Lotus Sametime, users can send links to Quickr content and start collaborating immediately from the instant messaging session.

The connectors are so flexible that it’s possible to do all of this from both Microsoft Office and also the free IBM Lotus Symphony office suite.

With the HMI acquisition Time technology are committed to building a connector for Quickr which will allow scanned images to be sent directly to Quickr via the e-Copy Scan Station software.

Now here’s the really good news……current licensees of Notes/Domino/DWA can access “Quickr 8.1 Entry” through IBM Passport Advantage. Providing a starter set of capabilities, including the most popular connectors, Quickr Entry provides:

• A content store

• Web services to provide personal file sharing

• Connectors (for desktop applications)

If the requirement extends to full capability then this is also easy to purchase and the upgrade is seamless, although even with Quickr Entry you can still access your places through the side bar in the Notes client, and….. it’s free….
